Murals

A mural is a painting on a wall, ceiling, or other large permanent surface.Murals of sorts, date to prehistoric times, such as the paintings on the Caves of Lascaux in southern France, but the term became famous with the Mexican "muralista" art movement (Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Rufino Tamayo or Jose Orozco). There are many different styles and techniques, oil and water based ("fresco") are the most commonly found all over the world today.

Trompe L'oeil

Trompe L'oeil means "trick the eye". It is an excellent way of transforming a reception area, bare courtyard, waiting room or wall into something colorful and with a realistic impression of depth. Adding a window or doorway is a wonderful way to open up the space in a room or dead end corridor. It only takes a few days or even hours to transform a ordinary wall or area into something beautiful. We paint doorways, Courtyards, Gardens, window views, columns and practically anything our clients desire.

Faux Finishes

Faux painting or Faux finishing are terms used to describe a wide range of decorative painting techniques. From the French word for "fake", faux painting began as a form of replicating materials such as marble and wood with paint, but has come to encompass many other decorative finishes for walls and furniture.

Marbleizing or faux marbling is used to make walls and furniture look like real marble. This can be done using either oil, plaster or glaze techniques.

Graining wood or faux bois (French for "fake wood") is often used to imitate exotic or hard-to-find wood varieties.

Color wash is a free-form finish that creates subtle variations of color using multiple hues of glaze blended together with a paint brush.

Strie from the French word meaning "stripe" or "streak", is a glazing technique that creates soft thin streaks of color using a paint brush. It is a technique often used to simulate fabrics such as linen and denim.

Rag painting or ragging is a glazing technique using twisted or bunched up rags to create a textural pattern.
